I’m writing this review about the fantastic, informative, hassle-free customer service that Stapleton’s provides. After searching quite some time for a new tent (we are a family of 4 who car-camp and need a fair bit of space in our tent) we found what appeared to be a great tent for the money (the Chinook Tradewinds Guide 6—see my review of it for details). For two reasons Stapelton’s was great in working with us on this tent.
First, when we looked up the tent in the Chinook product guide some of the details were unclear (and the people at Chinook were not entirely helpful with filling in the blanks). However, when I took my many questions to Shawn (at Stapelton’s) he was very patient and very well informed about the tent. The end result is that I felt very comfortable about making the purchase from him, even though I had never seen the tent before.
Second, and more importantly, Shawn handled our concerns really well once the tent arrived and, sadly, was in rather bad shape. We were worried that we would be stuck with this thing or that, best case scenario, we’d end up paying the shipping both ways on a tent that we considered to be a dud. Instead, after we raised our complaints and showed Shawn the photos, he covered the return shipping and arranged for a full refund.
So while I’m unimpressed with this Chinook tent, I am VERY happy with Stapelton’s. These guys are helpful, informative, and reasonable—I would not hesitate to buy from them and I recommend them strongly. As it is, we did not end up making our purchase through them, but that is only because we really needed a tent with a large, fully-covered vestibule and a room divider, which neither of the other, larger, Stapelton’s tents offer (i.e., the Kelty Mantra 7 or the Kelty Green River 6).
Bottom line, if you find the right product here, go for it these guys offer solid customer service.

(as my old one is no longer online) Thanks again for everything. I still love my pack and will continue to reccomend Stapeltons to anyone and everyone looking for outdoor gear!
